TURNING JAPANESE: rainy day

Spare a thought for the Japan crew.... five thousand miles of flying with expectations of bottomless pow, only to find it stair-rodding in the style of our own west coast. Luckily they've had other things to do, as the latest edit shows:

Ben in Zermatt

Back in November, Ben got his GoPro out for a few runs with some of his fellow trainers. Perfect conditiions, mellow riding, a shit-hot edit and a fair few chucklesome moments all add up to a great watch.

Post-pub fitness with Nicol P

We'll try to make this a regular feature. Everyone do your bit and get the camera out when Nicol's had a few.

A Winter Love: Part One

Wee Findlay Bremner has been stepping it up on the snow recently, and made this vid of him and Nicol up at the Lecht. Fin must be one of the youngest riders to even attempt the Lecht's (in)famous kink, let alone stomp it with a front 1 out. Great stuff, roll on part two.....

WILL IT SHRED? - Figments

Barry P has sent us some cracking pics of Craig Rumbles taking his goggles for a spin round Tokyo. Here's what the man himself had to say:

Anon Figment. Real comfy padding for those with a baby soft face. Adjustable head strap works well for both pea heeds and melon heeds. The figment comes in 21 different colors and has 17 lenses to choose from. I rock the lumberjack super sexy tartan, perfect for a patriotic Scotsman - looks rad with a red Solex lens which reflects the sun's rays on the brightest of days.

See how Craig and his crew get on in the land of pow in the forthcoming feature 'Turning Japanese with Barry Parker & friends'....

The Reason now available at Boarderline

The second issue of the UK's newest snowboard mag The Reason is now available for free in Boarderline.

This one's essenitally a buyer's guide, full of product reviews and the like, but there's some good stuff in there. Sift through the many, many adverts and you'll find some highlights such as another look at last year's Dawn Of The Shred comp at Cairngorm, and a great photo gallery. The lowlight is definitely Dan Wakeham talking about how powder is boring:

"You just kind of stand there, going side to side listening to some hippy music".

Christ.

Nicol shreds the 'gorms and the Lecht

It's always good to hear from Nicol, so to get an e-mail from him titled 'Scotland mountains shred oooh yeah' is like Christmas come early. He's sent over a few choice pics from his and Euan Linn's trip to the Cairngorms and the Lecht. Take a look...

Send your pics and vids of Scottish shred to damagedheads@googlemail.com

shee-it Clarence

Duthie and Hamish hit up the 'shee midweek. 6 hours of fresh, mostly in the sun, nobody else about, £14 each. Winner.

TURNING JAPANESE: Aberdeen to Niseko

The first edit from the Japan crew, as Barry documents the journey over with his GoPro. It's like a low-budget Lost In Translation, and has us pretty stoked for the edits they'll be sending back.

WILL IT SHRED? - Ions

Product props from those who know. First up, Ben ‘Killer’ Kinnear talks Burton Ions…..

The Ions have become the benchmark in boots for me! It's easy to get all techincal, but I don't have a clue what features these have, and I don't care either! To me they are well made and ride great. Light, stiff (enough) and long-lasting.

Great grip and support for hunting in the back-country:

You can snowboard in them too!

Simple boot that ticks what should be a very simple ticklist when it comes to buying boots.
